Who we are…

April 27, 2011

Hello everyone!

I thought it best to start off my new blog by telling you a little bit about who we are.  My goal is to keep it short and then over the next couple of months fill in more details.

Mike and I have been married since October 15, 1999.  We have two beautiful children, Alaina (2006) and Thomas (2008).  We have three cats and three basset hounds (I know sounds like a zoo).  Mike works for a large trucking company as a third shift diesel mechanic, which make my job as a stay at home mom (SAHM) difficult keeping children quite most days.  On top of being a SAHM, I do work two days a week for a large excavation business in their accounting department.

As a one and half income household we have to be creative in finding ways to financially survive.  I love to couponing, discount grocery shopping, consignment shops and finding the best bargains I can on anything we need to survive.

You will find our family has a deep faith in God and a strong belief a close family is important.  We are not perfect at either of these items and that is more than okay.  We work daily at finding better ways to deepen our roots.

Why ‘Family Rooted’?  It started when Mike and I decided it was time to make sure our family is rooted in faith, family, morals and values.  Then one day I started thinking why end there.  Why can’t be rooted in saving money on things like bills, groceries and more.  And then maybe one day we can live comfortably as a single income household.  And what a blessing that would be for us and to pass these lessons onto our children and then our grandchildren.

I look forward to sharing more about our family and so much more.  I hope you will join me on this road.
